How to Charge an IGET Vape Safely
Rechargeable IGETs are simple to charge and easy to mistreat. The short guide to doing it properly.
Which devices charge and which do not
Not every IGET recharges. Sealed disposables such as the XXL and the classic IGET Bar have no port — when they are done, they are done, and there is nothing to plug in.
The rechargeable models are the higher-capacity and pod-based devices: the Bar Pro, the One, and the Bar Plus system. These use USB-C.
Use an ordinary phone charger
A standard USB-C cable and a normal phone wall plug or laptop port is exactly right. What you should avoid is a high-wattage fast charger intended for laptops or tablets. Vape batteries are small and the charging circuitry is basic; pushing more current at it generates heat and shortens battery life.
Low and slow is correct here. There is no benefit to charging a vape quickly.
How long it takes
Most IGET devices take somewhere between 30 and 60 minutes from flat. The display or indicator light tells you when it is done. Unplug it at that point.
Do not leave it charging overnight
This is the one habit worth breaking. Leaving any lithium battery on charge unattended for hours after it is full is the single most common cause of problems. Charge it while you are awake and in the room, and unplug it when the indicator says it is finished.
Do not charge a wet or damaged device
If the device has been in water, dropped hard, or the port looks damaged or corroded, do not plug it in. Moisture in a charging port is a genuine short-circuit risk. Let it dry completely, and if there is visible damage, replace it rather than charging it.
Charging while it is empty
Charging a device whose e-liquid has run out will not bring the flavour back. The battery will take charge, but the coil has nothing to vaporise, and running it dry will only produce a burnt taste. On a pod device, fit a fresh pod. On a rechargeable disposable, it is finished.
Storage
If you are putting a device away for a while, leave it around half charged rather than flat or full, upright, at room temperature and out of direct sun. Heat is what degrades both the battery and the flavour.
